Project description 

Asian Development Bank (ADB) is providing Support for Integrated and Sustainable Urban Development along Mass Rapid Transit Corridors in Bengaluru (TA 6659-IND) with the aim to i) transform Bengaluru through Transit Oriented Development (TOD) to realign growth and densities along mass transit; ii) enable a mobility transition towards low carbon modes through Multi-Modal Integration (MMI); and iii) build capacities in parastatals and prepare a communication strategy to aid effective delivery of TOD and MMI

HTAU's role

To ensure the requirements of the TA scope are met to the highest standards and the necessary support for its effective implementation is sustained, HTAU is currently responsible for supporting Implementing Agencies (IA) - Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) and Directorate of Urban Land Transport (DULT) – and the ADB, in overall coordination and quality control of the assignment; providing policy and strategic advice for operationalization of the project; preparing an Integrated Statutory and Regulatory Framework for the implementation of TOD and MMI; and assisting in the oversight of the Capacity Building activities for TOD and MMI being undertaken for DULT and BMRCL and other state agencies.

 

In addition, HTAU is assisting ADB and the IA in structuring a Policy Based Loan for GoK, based on strategic policy actions for the operationalization of TOD and MMI.
